Preparation

Pope Francis just arrived here in the Philippines at 5:30 pm at NAIA 3. As I hear news from social media to television up to the radios, something just came into my mind. This write up has nothing against the Papal visit :) The whole nation prepared so much for the visit of the Pope. Most of the Filipinos even spent the whole night before the exact date of his arrival. Just to see and touch him. The government prepared a pompous chair for him to seat on. Some youths from different towns prepared dance numbers as welcome on his first step in our Land. A lot of children prepared songs.  Filipinos are really known for being hospitable. Most of the people flew from provinces to Manila just to see him arrive, touch him,  to hold his hand and kiss his ring (just wondering, what's with his ring that makes people want to kiss it?). As I see some interviews, some people cry because they are really eager to see him and they believe that he will heal their illnesses. They also named him as Victor of Christ (maybe all the popes are).  What I hear according to the news, he came here to visit Tacloban and have some talks with religious leaders and with the President.

People might not be noticing that they are already looking at him as God, not His servant. This is dangerous.

I was thinking, how if God comes, but not announced. He will also arrive in an airplane where ordinary passengers just ride on. He doesn't come in white suit with small cap on his head and a necklace cross. Will people prepare as how they prepare when the Pope arrived? Will they notice Him? or maybe the question should be, will the people be prepared as He comes?

I think God will appreciate this kind of preparation as how people prepared for the arrival of Pope. But he more looks on the preparation of the heart (1 Samuel 16:7). I just remembered the bible verse "for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night." 1 Thessalonians 5:2(NIV). He will really come again unnoticed. So are we prepared as how prepared we did for the visit of the Pope? Not in visual but in our souls and hearts.
