It was just last November when I asked God to give me a discipler, a mentor and spiritual counselor. This desire came from my heart because I know that having someone that you are accountable with is helpful to grow more and more in my Christian life. I also said this to my members, that’s why some of them were also encouraged to pray for someone who could disciple them. I kept on seeking for God’s answer on this. Then, I started to pray for a specific person who could mentor me. This person has been counseling me whenever I have problems. God directed me to her as He sees her to be my life mentor. She’s a pastor’s wife. I approached her after long time of prayer for her. She was so happy and prayed for that too. Officially, she’s my discipler, my mentor and my accountability partner.
Last Sunday, part of our leadership training, we are asked to do like what Jesus did to his disiples, washing of the feet. I was really happy when we were doing that. She was my assigned partner because she’s my accountability partner. The older one or the mentor goes first in washing the feet. So she washed my feet while expressing her gratitude and telling me that she’ll be my life mentor as what God wants her to be. This is a sign of humility and servanthood of leaders that we should immitate. I did the same thing after hers. We were given small personal towels with our names. She used her towel to dry my feet and I used mine to dry hers. I kept hers and she kept mine. This is a sign of being accountable to one another.
I thank God for her. I believe God will use her to see His will in my life.
This is the towel that was used.
