Making soap is fun and easy. Even kids can make their own soap. Some people are thinking of the right steps in making a soap. But still there are some who are not sure if what they made are safe to use. To make it sure, you should have the right ingredients. Check your list with the following things that you'll need: wooden spoon, knife, double boiler or microwavable measuring cup, essential oils, glycerin (usually used for making a naturally handmade soap), food coloring and soap molds. You might be wondering why lye (strong chemical cleaner) isn't included on the list. In this melt and pour soap procedure, you don't have to purchase lye to make a homemade one. But still, it has some lye in it and we can expect that it is still a natural soap that you can make. Here are some easy steps on how to make a natural soap:
First, cut the glycerin block to two or three pieces good for one bar of soap. Make sure to measure the amount that you need for the molds that you will use. After cutting into pieces, place them on the top pot of the boiler.
Note: If you have microwavable measuring cup, you can put the pieces in it and directly heat in the microwave for 40 seconds until it is completely melted. You can disregard the second step if you have this alternative and go directly to step three.
Second, put water in the bottom part of the double boiler to melt the glycerin until it is liquid. If it already turned into liquid, remove the whole boiler from the heater or stove.
Third, add a few drops of coloring. Then, a few drops of essential oils for fragrance.
Fourth, pour the hot melted glycerin into the soap molds and let it cool for 30 minutes.
Fifth, remove the soap from the molds when it is cool. Remove them with gentle pressure to maintain the desired shape.
Sixth, dont forget to clean everything to remove all the remains and residues.
Just be reminded, kids should be supervised when they do this process because the melted soap is hot. It can cause accident.
Now, you can enjoy the soap that you made or even sell them to your friends. You can also make different colors of soap that you want. Share what you've got and experiment more!
